Nobody: A Spoiler Free Review

With theaters starting to dust off the projectors around the nation, there have been a few releases not competing for views with newly formed streaming services. Nobody is a new release featuring a fan favorite leading actor that always seems to deliver. Following the Hollywood model of scorned unknown assassins, Nobody brings a semi-comedic absurdity that walks a very fine line. With fans hungry for the big screen and minimal competition, Nobody may be the film to satisfy hungry movie goers.

Bob Odenkirk (Hutch Mansell) has become a fan favorite since his role on Breaking Bad. Capitalizing on that he gets a leading role in an action packed film requiring lots of physicality. Nobody is a film about this one man so Odenkirk has to carry a heavy load and he does an amazing job at it. Fans of his acting and humor will undoubtedly enjoy him taking on such a demanding role. The film doesn't feature many other actors. Christopher Lloyd (David Mansell) plays Odenkirk's father and is a great addition to the story. His role isn't needed for the film to succeed but just like a cherry on top of a sundae, you're grateful it's there. Another minor role that is a nice addition to the cast is Odenkirk's brother played by none other than RZA (Harry Mansell) of the Wu-Tang Clan. The trio make a very odd yet enjoyable cast to carry the film for its somewhat short duration.

Without a doubt Nobody is a "John Wick" parody movie that feels like no one was told its a parody. As if a few writers got together and decided to write a movie that mixes John Wick and Home Alone. Nobody is the answer to some stoners question in which "what if John Wick as a bit more funny and gory?" was asked. Luckily Derek Kolstad decided to answer that question and Ilya Naishuller found a great cast to direct to pull it off. As Nobody is clearly a parody, it is filmed with a seriousness that only adds to the comedic affect. Within the first act you immediately pick up on the tone and strap yourself in for the ride. With excessive gore for added effect, this is no family film. If you are hungry for an enjoyable film that doesn't try to send a message, tell a moving story, or teach you a lesson Nobody is the pure entertainment film you need. With a 90 minute run time Nobody gets right to the point and entertains for it duration. If this is the first movie you venture out into a theater to see and enjoy the type of movie that doesn't try to be something its not, you wont be disappointed.

The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner. Now I am the master.
