With subscription based gift boxes being all the rage I wanted to feature a monthly gift I give myself that I see tremendous value in having.  As a child my father collected many things from Franklin Mint.  It was his blue collared way of adding some sophistication in his life.  After he passed my 4 siblings and I divided up these collectables.  One that I cherished that my baby brother got was his civil war chess set.  He loved having that as a center piece and enjoyed the game of chess.  I had often thought about having a set of my own to hand down and encourage myself to play more.  I hadn’t put much thought into the kind I wanted or where I was going to purchase it from until the day I saw an ad for the Marvel Chess Collection.

This set is amazing.  The quality of each piece is well worth the price point.  I splurged and picked the highest package you can get to ensure all the extra heroes and villains and my total after shipping is just over 30 dollars a month for 2 pieces monthly.  I am nearing a complete set and am eagerly looking forward to playing a game against my friend who also purchased the same set.  We will be texting each other our moves and our game will be displayed in our houses for all to see.  Not only is the quality of these pieces excellent, but so is their customer service.  Some pieces have poses and pieces that leave them vulnerable to a shipping mishap.  In any occasion in which this occurred they have shipped a replacement piece within days and never ask for the broken in return.  I have called it in and emailed in my issue and neither time has been met with any difficulty.  That amazes me.  Each piece comes with a book that tells a little bit about the character and has a binder system to store those books in.  The only negative thing I can say about this set is that the quality of the board they give you to match the set is not of the same caliber.  It will function properly with the set due to the scale of the pieces but that is about it.  It has no display qualities as do the pieces.  I will be looking into a custom board at some point in my life.  I would also suggest getting the extra packages.  If you want Thanos, Doom, Starlord or any of the premium pieces you will have to sign up for them.  They are well worth adding to the collection.
