Well if you love nostalgia then boy do I have a movie for you. This movie is jam packed with so many trademarks it will take 6 viewings just to catch most. The amount of lawyers it took to produce this must of been staggering. Once you unwrap all the nostalgia you get to the core of what is a pretty good movie. I went IMAX, non-3D. I prefer 3D in my home. I recommend the IMAX given the heavy amount of CGI in this film. Also with that, if you are not a fan of CGI you might not get into the movie as much. The movie takes place in an over populated future society but doesn’t focus on too many sociological or economical issues while telling the story which is good. I’m glad they did, if not the movie could of had a very “Phantom Menace” feel to it. They let you piece together that part of the future on your own. I also think they did a good job marketing this movie because it delivered everything the trailer would leave you to believe it was going to be. They set the expectation level just right. The acting wasn’t great but it was good enough for the half of the movie that was actually set in reality. The CGI was amazing and you would be doing a disservice to the movie to see it in a standard theatre. It was touching at times and makes you ponder a little bit about where our society is headed. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to pausing it on my 4K tv to spot all the minute tributes put in the movie.
