My Experience With AMC A-List So Far

a-list

The highs and lows of MoviePass were widely talked about. I even wrote an article when I canceled my subscription on why. Since then I decided to go with AMC’s more expensive yet valuable competitive program. In using both there are many differences between the two programs and although A-list is more expensive, I prefer this service. Before I go into the benefits of A-list, I would like to touch on the strengths of MoviePass. The major benefit to using MoviePass when I had it was the any theatre aspect. Being able to use it at any location was beneficial. Although there are many AMC’s within driving distance, it was convenient to go to the closest to my house or a quick movie once leaving work. The other plus, which no longer exists, was being able to see a movie a day. Although I never used it more than two or three times a week, that was the best value at the then $9.99. Since I have left MoviePass they have changed their whole structure and without using the service anymore I can not comment on its current structure.

As for A-list’s value I can say that it is well worth it. It is double the price At $21.99 but you get a lot more value for it. One of the major differences that I enjoy is that there is no exclusion from certain screens. A-list includes all 3-D, IMAX, and Dolby screens. Another big difference is that you can preorder your tickets weeks in advance unlike with MoviePass where you had to be by the theatre the day of. You can only use it at AMCs however it is one of the biggest movie theatre chains and if you live in any metropolitan area there is bound to be one close to you. The app functions much better, but getting carded to prove you match your account does get a little annoying yet it is understandable. The final perk that I enjoy is the VIP treatment you get from being able to use the premium lines. You get preferred treatment in line to get your tickets and concessions and who doesn’t like to feel a little special.

If you are an avid movie goer it is only practical to sign up with a movie subscription. It encourages you to see more movies in a theatre experience that you may otherwise skip. There are a few out there now so do your research and decide what’s best for you. I have tried to give some perspective on the two leading services. You can find our article on leaving MoviePass located here. I hope you utilize this medium and experience more films the way they were intended.
