With its inception coinciding with the dawn of digital rights, the graphic novel written and illustrated by Box Brown, takes you on the roller coaster ride that started in Russia and ended in a global phenomenon.
Non-fiction graphic novels was not a genre I was familiar with but am glad I discovered. It is a fun way to learn about a subject without feeling like you are actually learning. The illustration in Tetris: The Games People Play is simplistic and to the point while the story is told in depth. Having illustrations takes a lot of the weight off the narration and lets you focus more on the storytelling of the subject matter. This book is well researched and has more information on a video game that I realized was out there. It has a interesting story on how Tetris affected many people's lives, and not only those who played it. From a Russian developer to numerous corporate executives, each person has an interesting role in this games journey to the digital hall of fame. This book is truly a must read for old school gamers.
